GoConnect is pleased to announce the launch of its first free downloadable application on Windows Phone 7 smartphone. GoConnect's IPTV network has expanded rapidly since July2010 when the Company's uctv.fm music IPTV channel went live on the Sony Bravia Internet Video Service. Since then the network has added web TV on www.uctv.fm, the LG Netcast IPTV platform, and the mobile version of uctv.fm on most major smartphone brands accessible through their mobile browsers. Uctv.fm has almost 600 programs produced by GoConnect and these programs are available on demand by the viewers. New programs are added weekly.
GoConnect worked with Development Specialists, Readify, along with support and guidance from Microsoft to create the uctv.fm Windows Phone 7 application, which will shortly be available on the Windows Phone 7 app store, MarketPlace. Uctv.fm will be amongst Windows Phone 7's first batch of IPTV apps and will gain significant visibility. Accordingly, good user traffic is expected to be generated.
Richard Li, Executive Chairman of GoConnect says, "We are grateful to Microsoft for the support they have given us and uctv.fm. GoConnect was a pioneer in the delivery of video on smartphone as far back as 2003 when our m-Vision application went live on the first generation of Windows Mobile smartphone. Seven years later, we are once again amongst the first group of companies in the world to launch IPTV applications on the new Windows Phone 7 platform. Readify has done an amazing job in helping us with the uctv.fm app development."
Graeme Strange, Readify's CEO says, "This is a great example of the power of converging technologies like phone, IPTV and web with powerful software development tools and technologies".
"With the experience and expertise we have gained in IPTV over eleven years, GoConnect is well placed to take advantage of the exponential growth in consumer demand in IPTV, not just distributed on the web, but also through Internet connectable TVs and smartphones. Uctv.fm's arrival on Windows Phone 7 with its own free downloadable app is timely. We look forward to uctv.fm's growth in popularity in line with the strong growth expected in Windows smartphones in the next few years, particularly when the Microsoft-Nokia Windows Phone partnership kicks in, in 2012", says Li.
Dave Glover, Developer Evangelist, Emerging Technologies of Microsoft Australia says, "GoConnect impressed me as an innovator in media content creation and delivery industry and they were keen to explore ways to reach new customers. So to that end, it's been very exciting to work with GoConnect and see the germ of an idea become reality with the release of their application bringing their unique content to Windows Phone 7 users all around the world."
Nadia Smith, Readify's Victorian State Manager says, "Working with the team at GoConnect has been a pleasure. Open to collaboration, yet appreciative of timeframes, we were able to produce a terrific first release Windows Phone 7 application for the uctv.fm audience. The team at GoConnect are proud innovators and enthusiastic leaders. With a strong focus on customer satisfaction and specialists in their field, the partnership with Readify worked extremely well."
