The Situation

Readify has supported Folk on several major eCommerce projects. Folk approached Readify to assist with the redevelopment of a multi-lingual/multi-cultural public web-site for one of their customers in the mining services sector. The challenge was to design a compelling user experience for end users which was localised to their region/language without having to develop an entirely new site each time. Both content and navigation needed to be localised and the workflow required to drive localisation efforts needed to be streamlined.

The Solution

Readify worked with Folk to produce several working prototypes exploring some of the unique challenges around localisation. Within a short period of time a data model was developed which could support localisation of both navigational and content elements. This data model was then made editable via an integrated administrative portal which allowed regional content managers to select existing content and translate it.

The Readify team made use of the .NET Framework 3.5 and tracked progress and assets using Visual Studio Team Foundation Server.

The Benefits

By working with Readify, Folk developed a versatile content management platform for its customer which serviced both their current and future publishing requirements.
